Panoramic sunroofs are now available on many more affordable vehicles, including a wide range of SUVs. Sorting through every manufacturer’s website to find out which models offer panoramic sunroofs and how much it costs to add the option to each base vehicle is a tedious and time-consuming process. Fortunately, we’ve already done it for you.
To keep this list as relevant to the typical new SUV shopper as possible, the main section of this list has a price cap of $40,000, not including tax, title, licensing, or destination fees. If the panoramic glass roof isn’t standard on all trim levels of a given vehicle, we’ve included the price of the trim level required to get the panoramic roof, as well as any individual cost for the option, whether as a standalone feature or as part of a package. At the end of the list, we’ve included luxury SUVs that are available with a panoramic glass roof, as well as the cost of the upgrade.
It’s also important to note that there are other affordable SUVs that offer sunroofs or even multiple individual sunroofs over each row, but this list is solely for the SUVs that offer a glass roof that spans multiple rows.
What Is a Panoramic Sunroof (or Moonroof)?
The dividing lines between sunroofs, moonroofs, and their panoramic variants have always been a bit blurry, in part because these are largely marketing terms, and in part because no one has ever really agreed on exactly what they mean. That said, there is some level of consensus that a panoramic sunroof is larger and more, well, panoramic in its view of the sky than a typical sunroof or moonroof. Our working definition of a panoramic sunroof or moonroof is one that spans multiple rows as a single unit or pane of glass. Double individual sunroofs, for example, do not meet the definition, but a single large sunroof with a crossbar in the middle would.
Why Would I Want a Panoramic Sunroof (or Moonroof)?
There are many reasons to buy or lease a car with a panoramic sunroof. Chief among them is the extra light the sunroof allows into the cabin. These days, extra light doesn’t necessarily mean a lot of extra heat, as many use glass that blocks some or all infrared light — the main source of heat from the sun. Another good reason to get a panoramic roof on your next car is for the extra sense of space and airiness in the cabin. A glass roof can make even a snug, sporty sedan or coupe-styled SUV feel open and expansive inside, especially in the rear seating and cargo areas. However, if you’re a taller person, or if you will have taller occupants in the second or third rows, you may want to make sure adding a panoramic sunroof won’t impinge on headroom, as they can reduce overhead space by several inches.
Is a Panoramic Sunroof (or Moonroof) Worth It?
This is something everyone has to decide for themselves, but in many cases, a panoramic glass roof can be added to a new vehicle for $1,500 or less — or about 5% or less of a car’s total price. That’s a pretty reasonable premium for a feature that can completely transform the experience inside your new car, especially for second- or third-row occupants.
SUVs With a Panoramic Sunroof Under $40,000
1. 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer
Price with Panoramic Sunroof: $27,180
To get a panoramic sunroof on the 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer, you’ll have to choose the LT trim or higher and select the Panoramic Power Sunroof package. The panoramic sunroof option requires the addition of the Driver Confidence Package and the LT Cold Weather Package, for a total of $2,485 and a minimum vehicle cost of $27,180. If you opt for the Activ trim (or higher) instead, you’ll get an expanded set of options in the required Convenience Package at a slightly higher cost of $3,085 for the added packages and a total minimum vehicle price with panoramic sunroof of $30,580. 2. 2024 Buick Encore GX
Price with Panoramic Sunroof: $28,495
The 2024 Buick Encore GX offers a standalone Panoramic Power Moonroof option. For the base Preferred trim, Buick does not disclose its pricing on its retail website, directing shoppers instead to their local dealership for pricing. However, when you add the $1,795 Experience Buick package to the midrange GT Sport Touring, the total price, excluding destination, is $28,495. Given the 2024 Encore GX’s starting price of $25,600 and the availability of the option on the Preferred, however, we expect it to fall below $28,000 on the base trim. 3. 2024 Volkswagen Taos
Price with Panoramic Sunroof: $29,365
You don’t have to choose any crazy combination of packages and trims to get your panoramic sunroof with the 2024 Volkswagen Taos. 4. 2024 Subaru Forester
Price with Panoramic Sunroof: $30,295

5. 2024 Ford Escape
Price with Panoramic Sunroof: $31,090

Price with Panoramic Sunroof: $31,570
For $2,870, which includes the addition of the Driver Convenience Package, you can add a SkyScape power panoramic sunroof to the 2024 GMC Terrain SLE for a total minimum purchase price of $31,570. The Driver Convenience Package adds an 8-way power driver’s seat, power lumbar control, remote start, heated front seats, roof-mounted side rails, and dual-zone automatic climate control. 8. 2024 Nissan Rogue
Price with Panoramic Sunroof: $32,360
The most affordable Nissan Rogue that can be fitted with a panoramic sunroof is the SV trim. To get it, just order the $2,660 SV Premium Package. Along with the sunroof, you’ll also get roof rails, rear door sunshades, Prima-Tex leatherette seating, heated front seats, a security system, and more. 9. 2024 Kia Sportage
Price with Panoramic Sunroof: $32,690
Getting the least expensive 2024 Kia Sportage with a panoramic sunroof is as easy as choosing the $32,690 SX trim, which includes the panoramic sunroof among its standard equipment. You can get a similarly configured Sportage with AWD and a panoramic sunroof for $33,490 by choosing the $31,990 X-Line AWD trim and adding the $1,500 X-Line Premium Package, which also includes LED interior lighting, a smart power liftgate, and illuminated sun visors. The 2024 Mazda CX-50 doesn’t offer the panoramic sunroof as a standalone option but as standard equipment on the 2.5 S Premium and higher trims. 12. 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander
Price with Panoramic Sunroof: $34,125
To get the most affordable 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander with a panoramic sunroof, opt for the Outlander SE with the SE Tech package, a $2,300 premium over the standard SE trim. 13. 2024 Hyundai Tucson
Price with Panoramic Sunroof: $34,905
In the case of the Tucson model lineup, the 2024 Tucson Hybrid is the more affordable way to get a panoramic sunroof. It’s standard with a panoramic sunroof for just $34,905 in the SEL Convenience trim level, which is nicely equipped. If you’d prefer a fully loaded Tucson, consider the non-hybrid Limited. The 2024 Tucson Limited comes standard with a panoramic sunroof, as well as Highway Driving Assist and nearly every optional extra Hyundai offers — this is the fully loaded Tucson, priced at $36,510. 14. 2024 Kia Sorento
Price with Panoramic Sunroof: $35,690
The 2024 Kia Sorento is well-equipped even in base form, but you’ll have to go up one tier from there to get access to the $1,300 power panoramic sunroof option on the $34,390 Sorento S. That’s the only extra you’ll have to add, however, for a total MSRP with sunroof of just $35,690. For the Sorento Hybrid EX, the base trim, just add the $1,300 Panoramic Sunroof Package, which also includes interior LED lighting, for a total of $38,290. Price with Panoramic Sunroof: $36,715

16. 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe
Price with Panoramic Sunroof: $37,100
The 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe offers a panoramic sunroof as part of the $4,650 Premium package (which also includes an upgraded 12.3-inch screen, power-folding second-row seats, Harman Kardon audio, and much more), on SEL models. The Panoramic sunroof comes standard with the Limited model, but it’s just beyond our price cap at $40,600. Hyundai announced pricing for the all-new 2024 Santa Fe, arriving later this year, but has not announced which trim levels will be available with a panoramic sunroof.
