Recall Alert: 2024 Ford F-150

Ford has issued a recall for 385 F-150 pickups from model year 2024 because they can lose steering control.

Ford tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that workers used an incorrect fastener inside the trucks’ steering columns. The incorrect fastener can loosen over time, and could disengage. “If the fastener disengages, separation of steering system adjoining components may occur, resulting in loss of steering control and increasing the risk of a crash,” according to the recall notice.

Production records let Ford narrow the recall down to specific trucks. Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem, which a factory worker discovered.

Dealers will replace the fastener to fix the problem. By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.

Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. While automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, they rarely reach them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. To find out if your car is one of them, check the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
