HondaTrue Certified+
The top tier of Honda’s certified pre-owned programs, HondaTrue Certified+, makes us wonder why anyone would buy a new Honda when purchasing a lightly used model comes with such a great package of benefits.
HondaTrue Certified+ used cars have passed a 182-point inspection and are from the current model year or the most recent one. They have been in service for fewer than 12 months and show less than 12,000 miles on the odometer. It’s hard to imagine why someone might have traded in or sold their Honda to the dealership after such a brief period of ownership or use, but it happens. Perhaps they took a short lease, or circumstances changed, or they simply wanted a change. Who knows? Fortunately, the dealer will provide a Carfax or Autocheck vehicle history report, so you’ll see the car hasn’t been in a major accident, flood, or other disaster.
Not only that, the HondaTrue Certified+ cars come with a limited warranty that runs to five years or 86,000 miles (whichever comes first) from the date of the vehicle’s original sale – bettering the initial new car limited warranty of three years or 36,000 miles. The Certified+ powertrain warranty lasts seven years or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first) from the original sale, boosting the new powertrain warranty of five years or 60,000 miles. Complimentary Honda Service Pass program maintenance covers Certified+ vehicles for up to two years or 24,000 miles from the original in-service date. Honda will change the oil in a Certified+ vehicle up to two times during the first year or 12,000 miles of ownership (whichever comes first).
HondaTrue Certified
Used Honda vehicles with more than 12 months or 12,000 miles from their original in-service date but not more than five years or 80,000 miles can qualify as HondaTrue Certified vehicles. HondaTrue Certified vehicles’ new car warranty extends to 4 years or 48,000 miles (whichever comes first) from the original sale or one year or 12,000 miles from the used car sale if the original new car warranty has already expired. The powertrain warranty lasts seven years or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first) from the original in-service date. Honda includes up to two oil changes in a Certified vehicle during the first year or 12,000 miles of ownership (whichever comes first).
HondaTrue Used
Though not technically a certified pre-owned program, the HondaTrue Used category includes Honda vehicles up to 10 years old with no mileage limit. They receive a 100-day or 5,000-mile limited and powertrain warranty and one complimentary oil change within the first year of ownership.
Shared Benefits for All Programs
The HondaTrue vehicles all get Roadside Assistance (two years/24,000 miles for Certified+, one year/12,000 miles for Certified and Used). Honda has a 3-day exchange policy for HondaTrue vehicles, allowing buyers to exchange a car in the same condition it was sold with fewer than 300 new miles. The company includes trip interruption and concierge service during the limited warranty, and there’s a $0 deductible for covered repairs.
